Special Times Together

There were so many wonderful events that I want to commit to memory, so I will try to blog about them because they are so special to me about my trip to Utah--Summer 2010

Reunion of Siblings

With Alison living in Shanghai and Amy living in Florida, they love to take every opportunity they can get to be with each other.  They both live very busy lives:  Alison is Relief Society President and has four active boys; Amy is Primary President and has two active boys and an even more active little girl!  With only two daughters in the family, they have become extremely close the older they have gotten.  Although they are very different personalities, they still think the other is pretty special and can't wait to tell the other about something, especially if they find it amusing!

It is also a real treat to see John, Alison's husband.  He doesn't get to the U.S. very often, and we always enjoy having him around.

Alison, also, got to be with four of her brothers while she was in the U.S.  Here she is with Kent who lives in Washington.

A Special Night with the Granddaughters

These are the only granddaughters we have--minus Lola who went back to Florida.  (We have 17 grandsons!)  So, when my sister Joyce decided to have a jewelry party, I took the five girls to Centerville to the party.  We had such a great time together!  Of course, each of us had to model our new items we purchased!

Connor Making the Lone Peak High School Golf Team

All of the grandkids knew how hard Connor was working to make the golf team.  In a huge school of nearly 2,000 students, only 20 golfers would make the team.  Connor literally had been working from sunrise to sunset the entire summer in preparation for the tryouts.  We got word from his dad who was in Italy at the time, that not only did he make the varsity team as a ninth grader, but he was in the top five golfers.  The kids were all so excited for their brother/cousin, so they began to design posters and plan a little party for him.

Way to go, Connor!

Tyson's Birthday Party

There are very few young people who look forward to their birthday more than Tyson does.  He always celebrates it here in the U.S. when they come for the summer since it is the end of August.  His parties are always so much fun, and everyone--no matter what the age--looks forward to them!

Tyson with his dad and mom.

All of the kids had such a great time miniature golfing.

No one could beat Mason--after a few strokes he just dropped it in the cup and then cheered!

John even paid for the older kids to go on the Par-3 Course.  They thought that was great!

Lots of fun besides the golfing!

And wonderful food!

Happy Birthday, Tyson!  We loved celebrating your big day with you!  Thanks for inviting all of us!

Dinner Out at the Chuck-a-Rama

And a trip to Utah wouldn't be complete without going to dinner at Chuck-a-Rama--absolutely the best place to just relax and have kick-back conversation together while enjoying every type of food you would every want!  And without the kids--well, we did just that!

What a wonderful, busy summer in Utah. I know it was exhausting, but you were able to get to know even better so many of your grandchildren!! We also had a great time spending time with them when we went out to lunch, at the jewelry party and Wheeler Farm. You have such a wonderful family! Also, it was so great being with you and George in Alaska!

Even Chuck-a-Rama.....way to keep the traditions alive. I loved seeing all your kids and grandkids. I'm sure that Alison and John and family love the feeling of coming home which is wherever family is for them. Tell Alison she is an example of endurance. The plane ride to China is pretty long even without kids!!
