The Third Annual Copeland Girls' Get-Away was entirely planned out for Austin, Texas; airline tickets were purchased, hotel was reserved, and then along came Hurricane Harvey and changed all the plans. The Airport in Austin had sketchy information due to not knowing the severity of how it would be, so we didn't want to get everyone stranded there and changed our place for the retreat to Dallas. Two of the seven girls weren't able to make it this year--Angie and Kim. We really missed them, but ended up having a great time in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

We loved meeting this rooster named Barbara (hah!)

Barbara was soon going to be traded for a chicken--no roosters wanted at this feed store. Awwww . . .

Each year, we do a favorite things where everyone brings something that they love to have or love to do, and then we share it with the others. This year, everyone brought so many fun things. I had made a life story book for each of the seven children, plus the stories I have finished thus far on the Copeland-Adams family line. I think they all enjoyed them, and I can't wait to give Kim and Angie theirs.

We then enjoyed a yummy Japanese dinner at Jinbeh.

After dinner, we headed over to hear The Piano Guys in concert. Some of us had been to one of their concerts before--they are always fantastic!

Yes, our seats were on the very back row--but at least, we all were able to sit together!

This is the newest cello of the many cellos that Steven Sharp Nelson uses when playing as part of The Piano Guys.

LOVED the concert!
The next day, we headed to the Ft. Worth Stock Yards. If you haven't done this, you must! It is sooo much fun!
We were there just in time for the longhorn cattle round-up down main street. Those horns were huge!
We next took a carriage ride through the stockyards and learned a little of the history of this area. So fascinating!

We got to go into the barns which aren't used as much today as when this area was the main place that the cattle were brought to before being shipped further north to the packing plants.

They even had reindeer for their Christmas celebrations held here.

The girls looked like authentic cowgirls with their cute hats!

For a pretty hefty fee, you could sit on the back of one of the longhorn cattle.
One of the funnest, funniest parts of the Ft. Worth experience was watching Alison on the mechanical bull--I think it looks more like a hedgehog, but whatever! Hah! Anyway, she was so brave and started out so poised!

She soon learned you can't hang on with two hands or you will lose your balance!

Soon she was getting a little scared of smashing her hat . . .
That led to extreme fear that she might break a body part! But, she stayed on until the end! So proud of her! Yes, she's definitely a great sport!

After eating a yummy Bar-b-Q lunch, we headed back to Dallas to rescue at least two of the dads!

Natalie was the party planner and had brought decorations for the big event.
These little people were definitely happy to have their mommy home again!
Kennedy loved the little shoes that she was going to put on her baby sister when she arrives in November.
So many sweet gifts for this new little girl to be!
Yes, another fantastic Copeland Girls' Get-Away in the books! Although I am going to be so sad to miss next year's because I'll be in Russia, I am thrilled that the girls are still making plans.
George and I both feel so blessed to have seven such wonderful daughters and daughters-in-law who are just like daughters. We are so glad they are all such great wives and mothers and stay close to the Lord in their daily activities.
Thanks to everyone who made this Get-Away so special--including all the dads who stayed at home watching the kids! Until next year!
Brunch at 5th Street Cafe.
We began our fun at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Although most of the flowers had already bloomed and gone, it was still such a beautiful, peaceful place to be.
The guys in Dallas were tending the kids, but they got a sitter and came over to eat dinner with us.
George really enjoyed spending time with Cameron and Craig, who he doesn't get to see often enough.
We began the next morning with pedicures. It was quite a feat getting one place that could take all six of us at one time!

We were definitely treated royally!
We then dashed over to a painting class. It was fun, but with not enough time to really finish our pics, we realized how difficult getting them just right was!

We next stopped at a place in Ft. Worth that was actually a Texan feed store. We wanted an authentic-looking Texas spot for some great pics!

After returning to Cassie's house, the girls had planned a surprise baby shower upstairs for Cassie.
When she came into the room, I think she had a pretty good idea of what was going on--a little birdie named Kennedy just told her there was going to be a surprise. Hah!
