A Shrimpin' We Will Go!

So when the kids had such a great time on the dock picking up shrimp and little fish, they absolutely couldn't wait to go again.  We knew we had a nice shrimping net, so we got all the kids together again, and off we went to the dock.  But who was going to throw that net in?  It is pretty tricky to do it--you have to use both hands, plus your teeth when throwing out the net!  Parker wanted to do it so badly, but we were afraid he would catch it on his braces, and with him being so light, he just might go right off the dock with the net connected in his teeth!  So, Jeff bravely volunteered!

We were so amazed at how professional he was--he had never thrown a shrimp net in his life--he's a Californian, you know--but from the first toss, it went down perfectly in a circle!  (See how he swings around so fast that he is just a blur!)

He then let it sit for just a few seconds, gave it a couple of tugs, and then started pulling the rope which brought the net in.  When the net is released, out comes all sort of treasures!

The kids wanted to have him throw it out again and again.  (The next morning at church, he was so stiff, he could hardly move!  Thanks, Jeff!  You were great!)

What a great experience for all of you. I'm glad that Florida's water is still oil-free and you can enjoy the tradition of catching shrimp. We can't do that in Idaho!!
