More Thanksgiving Week Fun

One of the wonderful advantages of living in Florida is that you can actually go to the beach during the Thanksgiving holidays.  That's just what we did!  The teacher who teaches with me in the Adult Ed program, Susan, was so kind to be the "guide" in helping the grandkids find shark teeth at Mechler Beach.  What fun it turned out to be!

Such a relaxing day for the sisters-in-law to enjoy the sun and enjoy watching the kids.  We missed Craig and Cassie, who were in Gainesville attending the Florida game, and Kyle and Kim, who went back to Orlando for Jenna's cheerleading competition practice.

Susan, was so patient in helping the kids search for the shark teeth.  Believe it or not, after a little over two hours, we found 66 shark teeth!  The kids were thrilled!

Susan, with Sydney and Ella.  She had to have surgery just a few days after that and was in terrible pain, but still came this day to ensure that the kids would have success in their search for shark teeth.  Thanks so much, Susan!

Jeff took Lola for a stroll along the beach, but she definitely didn't like getting near the water.

She just liked playing in the sand with the beach toys.

Mason loved the beach toys, too.

Now, Ella joins in on the fun.

This is something that I could never do!  I would absolutely freak out being buried like this--I am waaay too clastrophobic!  But, Ethan thought it was so much fun.  What a good sport!

Ella figured this was a great time to get back at Ethan's teasing.  How about a little tickling of the toes?!

Natalie wipes the slate clean and tries another design.

Garrett and Jaxon want to join in on the fun.

The new finished product.

Cameron, giving Mason a lesson about the ocean.

Now, little Gavin gets to experience the ocean.

The kids, also, enjoyed finding some beautiful shells.

A man was standing right there on the beach fishing, and he was so kind to let Mason help bring a fish in.

Mason was so proud!  You would have thought this was the best day of his life!

Feeding time for little Cannon.

Jeff and Amy with Garrett, Isaac, and Lola.  Even though we all live right here near the beaches, we don't go there often, so it is great when we have visitors to get us there.

Susan told us we might be lucky and see some horseriders on the beach.  Horse riding lessons are given near here, and this is a favorite place to go.  Sure enough!  Here came the riders!

Kent and Natalie, Ethan, and Ella

After about three hours at the beach, the kids were getting hungry, so we went back to Jeff and Amy's neighborhood pool to have pizza and finish Garrett and Ethan's birthday cake.

Then it was back to Papa and Grandma's house for a few more hours of play . . .

and then it was time for bed.  No one had trouble getting to sleep this night!

One more big activity with the family to follow before they all start for home.

Like Doug and I said on our trip, "Why would you want to leave warm Florida!" Also, "You live where most people want to retire!" Anyway, your Thanksgiving with your children and grandchildren looked wonderful!

I know where I want to spend Thanksgiving next year! And I thought it was warm where we lived... not like Florida I guess. Love the picture of the sand mermaid and Christmas tree. Looks like you had a great time together!

66 shark teeth? WOW!!! Tyson will be impressed for sure, but I'm sure would have loved to be there. It's amazing you can still hang out at the beach, when others are freezing in snow. I definitely would choose the beach. Glad you all had so much fun!!
