Back to School! Fall 2015

Yes, it's that time of year again--although since I have retired after 26 years of teaching, I don't notice it nearly as much as I used to.  However, I always loved seeing all of the students get so excited for the first day--maybe even the first week--then the enthusiasm drops dramatically when they realize they can't go do everything they had done during the summer months, they need to go to bed earlier, get up earlier, and there is always HOMEWORK!  But, I love posting pictures of all the grand kids who humored their grandmother by letting me post their first day (or week) of school.
Meet our newest little pre-schooler:  Kennedy.  She looked so darling and organized on this first day of school.  Her mom said she would pay double if they actually got her to take a nap on her little blanket bed.
Well, mom better be ready to pay up because sure enough, Kennedy was sound asleep with all kinds of noise around her when her mom came to pick her up.  She NEVER does this at home!  Hah!  And when asked how school was, she enthusiastically said, "It was gweat!"
And here we have Riley--first day of Kindergarten.  Somehow they look so much older when they start school all day long like this!
Our next kindergartner is Gavin--Look how excited he is!
And his mother's post reminds us that we would have a third little grandchild starting kindergarten today.  Here is what little Cannon's mother wrote:
"A kindergarten teacher is missing this little boy in their class today.  Cannon might not be learning where to hang his backpack, putting his pencils in his desk, or looking forward to recess; but I am comforted to know he is working hard and progressing in his celestial education.  After all, it's a full time job to be the guardian angel of our crazy family.  #familiesareforever  #imissbubs"
Yes, we all miss our little Bubs!
And here we have Lola--already a first grader.  Man, how time does fly!
I always loved the smell of new books and school supplies!  It looks so fun, doesn't it?
Here is Mason--our very handsome second grader!
And Preston is ready to go out the door to third grade--always dressed in his color coordinated basketball clothes and with a big smile.
Next up:  Isaac who is now a third grader--again, the clothes, plus socks, must all be coordinated team colors!
Isaac's smile never leaves--even after he gets to school!

Here we have Ella--in fourth grade already.  She always loves to wear cute headbands!
And here is Jaxon--already a sixth grader!  Totally organizes his clothes the night before and lays them out for the next day!
Ethan--our seventh grader!  So many new adventures in middle school or junior high!
Hannah is, also, a new seventh grader.  New classes and new friends!
Garrett had to start seventh grade wearing a boot because of a hairline fracture in his foot.  We all decided it was a great way to get the girls to help carry his books!

Waiting for the bus--thank goodness, he didn't have to wear the boot for too long!
And here is Sydney--already a ninth grader!  Her smile always warms your heart!  And this year is the first year for early morning seminary--starting at 6:00 a.m.
Tyson--such a great sport to allow his mom to take his picture.  Yes, he is, also, a ninth grader, so he started early morning seminary this year, too!  You have to admire all these kids who attend seminary before they then go to their regular school classes.  It is a giant commitment for both kids and parents!
I so admire all the wonderful moms and dads who make sure all the kids are up and ready for school each day!
Have a great school year!
I didn't get all the grandkids' first day pictures, but I love seeing the pics of the ones I did.
