The girls in Amy's ward planned a really nice shower for Amy, and Lola was so proud that she got to go, too!
The girls who gave the party.
I don't know if this was exactly the kind of party Lola was envisioning. Where was "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" or the piƱata? Hah! She still had fun and felt so grown up to be there, too.
That night, I snapped a picture of their final family of five--tomorrow they would be a family of six!
Since Amy was being induced, she and Jeff went later that night to get all set up for the delivery. Everything was all smiles at this point.
Amy had invited, me, plus her two sisters-in-law to witness the delivery. We all felt very honored that she and Jeff would allow us to be part of this very special experience.
"She's having a baby!"
But, soon the labor became intense and was no longer fun and games . . .
The little bed was waiting . . .
And with tears of pain and gratitude, Amy holds her little boy for the very first time.
He is perfect in every way!
Dad takes him over to be weighed and cleaned up.

Meet Copeland Briggs Barlow born on November 19, 2015
Jeff, Amy, and Baby Copeland
Congratulations from the very capable Dr. Levino who delivered Copeland.
From Grandma Laura--so proud of all Amy went through for the entire nine months, plus the delivery, to get little Copeland here!
From Cassie and Anne--who are true sisters after going through all this with Amy!
When George and I brought the kids up to the hospital to see their baby brother for the first time, he was in the nursery. He had just had his first bath to give him a good cleaning. I thought this was so cute of them looking through the window to spot little Copeland.
The nurse held him up for the kids to see.
He was peeking out of one eye--perhaps to see what his new brothers and sister looked like.
The kids went back to their mother's room, and then the nurse pushed Baby Copeland down to the room.
I love, love this picture! Amy took his hat off to show them his little head and they were just in awe!
They all wanted to feel his little head and hair.
Amy then very tenderly talked to them about how fragile little babies are and how you must watch over them and protect them.
Lola, of all the kids, had been the most excited for this little baby to come, I believe. So, she definitely couldn't wait to hold him!
Lola was absolutely fascinated by the little lines in his head. She wanted assurance that his head was going to be smooth soon.
Next came Isaac.
And then Garrett.
Grandpa George and Grandma Laura even got their turns to hold him.
All too soon for the kids, it was time to go, so little Copeland went back to his mommy.
Of course, the kids wanted to go back and visit the next day, too. They thought it was pretty great that their mother let them sit on her bed, watch television, and hold Copeland.
They even got to see him awake for a little while.
Baby Copeland had lots of cousin visits in the hospital, too: Mason
Gavin
Sydney and Gavin

and Kennedy
At home, the kids kept busy keeping Frisco company until their new little brother arrived the next day.
But when Amy and Jeff got home, he was pretty excited to see them!
It was so sweet--Lola asked if we could get flowers to give to her mommy when she got home. Amy loved it!

Amy's sister, Alison, had sent a darling baby cookie bouquet that was waiting for mother and baby when they arrived home.

And here he was in his new home--beginning his life here on earth in a very loving family who couldn't be more excited that he came to their home.

Everything would be new and exciting for the Barlow kids--such as his first bath at home that had lots of eager on-lookers. What a very blessed little baby Copeland is to have so many people who love him already, as well as for people he'll soon learn to love, too!

I'm soooo excited for Amy and this beautiful little boy that has joined their family. So wonderful you could be there for her shower celebrations, and for the actual day of Copeland's birth! What true joy!
