Christmas 2016

This was such a special year to be in our new home that we've been so excited to move to.  These are some of the activities George and I enjoyed this Christmas time:
As I've said before, I LOVE Christmas cards--I love to hear from family and friends and am actually disappointed when people write just their names on a Christmas card.  Sorry, but I like to hear about how they are doing and what has been happening throughout the year.  I, also, included a Christmas letter with our card this year.  I have been doing a letter since 1977 (only missing a couple of years), so it has become quite a history of our family.
On Christmas Eve day, Kent and Natalie, Ethan and Ella came over to Richland and we had a really fun time doing some last-minute shopping and then eating at Texas Roadhouse.  George and I spent the evening enjoying a fire in the fireplace, along with watching some great movies.
The next morning, we headed over to Sunnyside to attend church with Kent and Natalie's family.  The sun peeking through the winter clouds made such a beautiful scene through the frosted trees.  There is nothing better than having Christmas Day be on Sunday!  We were able to attend a touching Christmas program of beautiful music and wonderful thoughts of the Savior.

No person could have decorated this tree more beautifully than Mother Nature did!
Afterwards, we went to Kent and Natalie's home where the table was all set up for the wonderful brunch Natalie would be serving.

The year that little Cannon passed away, 2013, all of the Copeland family purchased this little tree and sent ornaments that reminded them of Cannon and his life and how much we all loved him.  I was pleased to see it sitting there on its little copper table--so meaningful.

The kids were so excited to start opening their gifts.  They had been so patient to wait until after church.

We were so surprised when their family gave us this beautiful new television to put in one of our spare bedrooms.  It will be such a nice addition!
When all the gifts were unwrapped, Ella wanted the animals to be part of the fun--so she ran to the barn and got some of the animals and dressed them in Christmas attire.  Here is Thompson--he is such a fluffy, chubby cat, but, he is quick as lightning and can surely catch birds or mice or whatever there might be!
Ethan is holding Curry--not as big, maybe not as good of a catcher, but definitely a great friend to Thompson and Teddy, the dog.

And yes, here is Teddy--a girl!  She actually talks, especially when she sees Kent.  She LOVES Kent!
One of the best parts of the day was hearing from our two missionaries:  Elder Copeland from the Scotland/Ireland Mission.

And Elder Wilde from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Mission.

Kent and Natalie, Ethan and Ella made our Christmas Day so beautiful.  They are always so good to us--just like we feel at the other six kids' home when we are there.  We feel very blessed to have such a wonderful family and thank our Heavenly Father every day for each of them.

So grateful for this Christmas season where we are reminded of the importance of the Savior in our lives and how special families are to each of us.  So sad to see the Christmas season come to an end, but may we try to keep that same spirit of Christmas love the entire year!
