Christmas Call from a Special Missionary

There are two days a year that a family who has sent a missionary out look forward to the most:  Mothers' Day and Christmas.  Those are the only two days of the year that a Mormon missionary can call home and talk to his or her family.  Christmas Day for Kevin and Angie's family was highly anticipated, not only for the beautiful day that it always is, but they had an added excitement:   They would get to talk to their son (and our grandson) Taylor who is serving a 2-year Mormon mission in the Philadelphia, Spanish Speaking Mission.

Missionaries serve for two years and Taylor has been out out for a little more than a year, so everyone was definitely looking forward to THE CALL!

After all the talk about what the family was doing and what he was doing, Taylor bore his testimony of the Lord's work that he is involved in.

Kent and Natalie and their children were here by now, so Kent, who served a two-year mission in Guatemala and speaks Spanish every day in his dental practice, was able to talk to Taylor.  He was very impressed at how well he spoke the Spanish language.  We are so proud of Taylor for learning the language to quickly.  For young men to give two years of their life--no dating, no friends or calling home (except for the two times a year), just doing service and talking to people about the gospel of Jesus Christ, is a giant commitment, but Taylor certainly stated it was all worth it to see so many lives change.  To understand more about serving a  mission, go to:

I loved seeing everyone's face as they spoke with Taylor. There seem to be very few other conversations that are more important to family than a visit with their missionary. Taylor is lucky to have such a loving, supportive family. Tell him we also are very proud of his hard work and strong testimony.
And Laura, you look so cute talking with Taylor in your jogging suit and trim figure!! Thank you also for the birthday call. It always means a great deal to me to hear your voice.

Taylor looks so good! There's nothing like taking a young man out of his environment where he has noone to think about but himself and placing him in a situation where all he does is serve 24/7. That was a plus for you and George to be at Kevin and Angie's on Christmas Day when Taylor called.

So great you guys were there when Taylor called. It is also great to see him so happy on his mission. I can't believe this is just around the corner for us when Bracken leaves on his mission. There is no where you'd rather have them, but I think I'm going to be counting down the seconds until Christmas and Mother's Day just to hear their voice, right!!
