The beautiful azaleas in our backyard. You have to enjoy them when they come out because they only last a week or two.
I used to push Kevin and Alison on this same swing set when we lived in Glendale, California, back in the late 60s, early 70s! This same swing set that has followed us all across the country, is now the favorite of all the grandkids. We had to replace the poles because they were left in Salt Lake City when we moved here.
Getting to mow the lawn again. George has decided he's going to do it himself like he used to. We got the old tractor back from Gainesville, and he now takes the grandkids on rides, plus mows the lawn.
Garrett always sits like this. He would be great moving to China because that's how they sit! Anyway, he sat there giving Isaac tips on how to drive the tractor. Along came a stray cat who wanted to observe, too.
This is really funny. Lola was scared to death of the tractor at first. Now she asks Papa George if she can ride with him while he mows. The other day she stayed on there for at least 20 minutes until I went outside and she saw me.
Watching spring soccer. Oh, how I wish we could go to all the grandkids' games!
Isaac was really excited for soccer to begin again.
Eating half-time oranges. Oh, that brought back so many memories of watching our five boys play soccer!
Watching the kids have fun on the playground.
After getting into red ant piles one too many times and swelling up terribly, Lola wears her boots every time she goes out.
We always pat Lola on the back when we pick her up--now she does it to us.
Watching all the ducks and wildlife enjoy the beautiful days, too.
And lastly, you know it's spring when the Canadian geese come back. Last year, there were seven or eight. This year I counted 13.
Yep, spring has sprung, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it before those hot, humid days come 'round again!

I can't believe your flowers in the yard....beautiful!!! You are right, Garrett is sitting "Chinese style", I thought that even before reading what you wrote ha ha!! How fun to see all your spring activities! I love spring too!!
Your yard is SOOOO beautiful!!! Lucky little sweet grandkids to live by you! Miss you, Laura.
I have enjoyed reading about your many travels this past winter but I guess I really appreciated this post because of the insight you gave us into your everyday lives. It seems you feel much the same as I do in that we actually have time to notice the reactions the grandchildren have to the blessing of family around them. It seems we were so busy with our children trying to keep up that we didn't always either appreciate or have time to notice these moments. Now, being a grand parent, we can view life through different eyes. Seeing Lola pat George on the back and George's face as he rides with his little grand daughter on the tractor is precious. Also, to see how good a big brother is to his little sister was so sweet and speaks volumes about the love Amy and Jeff are teaching their children. Again, I love how you capture those moments.
