Ethan had been so excited to go to this camp, but within about an hour and a half, he and another larger kid had gone up for a ball, and the kid's eye bone knocked into Ethan's head and caused this damage! The other kid's eye was okay, a tiny blood on the bone, but a very black eye, for sure, will come about. Ethan got the worst of it!
We first took him over to Kent's dental office where he cleaned it up and cut back the hair, but he didn't have the kind of thread to sew up a head wound, so we ended up going to the ER in Prosser.
They were able to use their special glue and within no time, he was almost good as new!
Since it was spring break for the kids, we wanted them to have a little fun, so all of us, minus Kent, drove to Leavenworth--one of the most beautiful little towns in the world only about two hours away!
Leavenworth is a little Bavarian town that has little specialty shops and very fun eateries.
One little store had this "ancient" typewriter. Ethan couldn't believe this was how we used to write to one another. Funny thing, this is exactly like the typewriter that was in my dad's office that we used to practice on. I think he still had it until the Teton Dam flooded his office. He even tried to save it, but I don't think he was able to.
The hat shop is always fun to try crazy hats on.
King George--that is really becoming a popular name!
We couldn't leave without going to the cookie shop and getting a few before our trip home.
Ella wanted some of the little gingerbread girls.
Yes, great day--great "field trip!" 
Ella had a soccer game later on that day, so we headed for that.
No referee showed up for the game, so the coaches asked Ethan to do it. He had a great time using that little whistle! He really did a nice job because he definitely knows the rules!
I always love to go to Ella's horse riding lessons. It is amazing how much she loves her time with the horses.
Her teacher requires her to see how much work it takes to care for a horse--not just the riding . . . they have to be brushed . . .
and their hooves cleaned out . . .
all before saddling the horse.
Ella's now learning the proper technique when she has the horse cantering.
I think she likes the galloping part the best!
Ella and the teacher's younger sister have a great time together on horse riding day!
EASTER MORNING
The table was decorated so beautifully at Kent and Natalie's home. Ella had helped set up the table. Great job, Ella!
We were having Easter brunch, so Ethan was helping cook the eggs--getting him ready for cooking on his mission! They were delicious!
We were fortunate to still have the Bakers with us for Easter. After the wonderful brunch, Natalie and Ella had stuffed Easter eggs which hung on the little tree our whole family had given them.
As each one of us opened the Easter egg, there was an object inside with a little verse to read which talked about Christ's death and resurrection. Such a great way to remind us of why we were celebrating Easter!
The next Sunday, Kent's family came over to our home and we had an Easter egg hunt here. Ella got to leave 30 seconds earlier than Ethan.
Our yard was the perfect place for the hunt . . .
The kids had such a great time--and so did we watching them! 
Another fun field trip we did while the Bakers were still here was go to the Alpaca farm here in Prosser. We had such fun!
They had all just been through the shearing time, but I loved how they kept their cute fuzzy faces.
Candy is such a dog lover and immediately went over to the dog. They have two dogs on the property who are keepers of the Alpacas. I think they are more gentle with them than the dogs we saw in New Zealand who took care of the sheep there.
The owner gave us some food to feed the Alpacas. I chose to keep snapping pictures. Hah!

Almost as soon as we took this group picture, the Alpacas started coming towards us and went straight to the enclosure by us. They just had a sixth sense that it was going to start raining, and sure enough! They saved us from getting wet!
After the little sprinkle of rain (compared to Florida's rain storms, this was pretty much nothing), we moved over to the building where the fur was in big bags. The owner showed us how they laid it out on a sorting table where the sticks or other things caught in the fur were taken out.
She let us each take a handful to feel how soft it was. We definitely had to put it back because we were holding big bucks in our hand.
We then got to see some of the beautiful items that were made out of Alpaca fur. Natalie is modeling this beautiful hat. I couldn't believe how light and soft they were!
Now she is modeling a beautiful sweater/stole made out of Alpaca fur. So many beautiful items! What a great time we had at this farm!
Another evening we got to go to Ella's dance recital. This brought back so many wonderful memories of watching Alison and Amy through their dancing years. I loved it then and I love it now!
Well, that pretty much sums up our first three weeks in Washington. As you can see, we have kept busy and love being closer to family. We look forward to many more wonderful times and memories.

Wow!! You've had an action-packed life in Washington already! That was quite the gash on Ethan's head. Good thing it was on the inside of his hairline; however, with the glue they have now there is hardly any scaring. Also, those alpaca almost look like aliens with all of their hair shaved. Fun post...keep them coming!
