Antarctica Cruise - February 18, 2016 Ushhuaia, Argentina - The End of the World

Today we stopped in Ushuaia, Argentina--known as the "End of the World."  We got off the ship and took a four-hour tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park.

 It was so great to get off the ship after three days of sailing!

 And to get to such a beautiful place in the world!

 The Tierra del Fuego National Park is huge--150,000 acres with half in Chili and the other half in Argentina.

 

 

 We visited the cutest post office on Lago Roca Lake where we sent ourselves a post card to ourselves that is stamped, "End of the World." It literally is the farthest post office south on the globe and sits on a little dock run by this kindly little man.  Only three or four people at a time can even get in there.

  Such a beautiful place in the world that has everything--lakes, forest, mountains, and fresh air!

 After the tour, Joyce and I stopped off in town to go through the Ushuaia shops and to look around.

Rhodochrosite is Argentina's national gemstone.  We saw it carved into many different items in the shop widows.  It is usually a pink color.

 I had to take this picture with these King penguins in front of one of the stores--I can't wait to meet the real ones soon!
