A Wedding Day fit for a Princess

Being able to attend my brother Blair's daughter's wedding was such a joy to us!  Living so far away, we miss many of the family events, but since we were in Utah for Christmas and the wedding was only a few days after, Doug and Joyce invited us to drive to Idaho for the wedding and reception.  We really appreciated going with them, had a great time staying at my dad's home in Rexburg, and absolutely loved the entire weekend!

No pictures may be taken inside the temple, so after we all observed the beautiful wedding inside, we waited outside to take pictures of Emily and Irvin.

With the weather being in the teens, Emilie wore an exquisite white cape over her wedding dress.

These four little girls are Emily's nieces.  They were adorable in their beautiful little dresses, coats, and bows.  They worked so hard to keep the wedding dress out of the snow.

My brother Blair, my sister-in-law Denise, their daughter Annie, son Ryan, daughter Melanie, son-in-law John, son-in-law Logan, daughter Lisa, and four of Blair and Denise's six grand children.  Melanie just had another baby girl about a month ago (now making four girls!), and Lisa's little boy is under a year old.

After we all left the temple, we went over to the church where we were treated to a wonderful buffet.

Emily is truly one of the sweetest, near-perfect young ladies I have ever met.

As you can see, Melanie gets lots of help from the older sisters.

Two of my nephews:  Lane and Burke.  Lane did all the videography of the wedding day.  I don't know if I have ever seen anyone work harder at it!  It is really going to be a treasure when he finishes it!

After the wedding lunch, we went over to my dad and brother's law office.  It is always fund to reminisce about working in the law office from when I was in junior high.  I had many interesting experiences working there.  This is my brother in his office giving instructions to his secretary.

These are the five attorneys that run the office.  My dad is 89 years old and has not yet retired.  I think that makes him one of the longest working attorneys in history!  He's been at it for over 60 years!


The wedding reception was held in the cultural hall of the chapel that I attended all while I grew up.  It was decorated so beautifully with lots of tiny lights.  Again, the bride and groom looked like a prince and princess.

My Uncle Harold and Aunt Vaudys.  Harold is my dad's brother.  These are some of my only aunts and uncles still alive.  They were always so good to me growing up.  
Notice the picture in the background:  That is Denise in the painting done by Dell Parsons.  She is portrayed as Mary kneeling before Christ with Martha looking on.  The painting was done probably 30 years ago.  Denise is still just as beautiful now as she was then!

George is always such a good sport to let me take pictures of him eating ice cream!  Well, it was actually gelatto, but basically the same thing!

The little girls had a great time while the grown-ups visited.

Such an emotional, sweet picture.  I know it isn't easy for a dad to give away his daughter, but they are so thrilled at what a good man Irvin is.  He will be a wonderful husband.

This little niece of Emily's is hysterical.  Her name is Lilly.  As soon as I started taking pictures of her, she decided to really pose for me, and began by taking her sweater off. 

I went back to taking pictures of the bride and groom.

Now Lilly went to get Irvin's little nephew to dance with her.  She doesn't seem to mind that he is a whole head shorter!  She is afraid of nothing and no one!  

Soon, it was time to go.  We left everyone still dancing and having fun.  I guess we are getting old, but we were all exhausted.  Thank you Irvin and Emily for the perfect day.  We loved being able to be there as you begin your life together.
