Kade and Carter's Eagle Scouts

My dad has always had an interest in the scouting program and what it can do for young men.  He has always encouraged those in the scouting program to finish it off by getting their Eagle Scout--which less than 2 percent of those beginning the scouting program do.  Therefore, as an encouragement in the Rigby family, I had a plaque made with all the Eagles in just my dad's posterity (and those who have married into the family.)  We actually had to start a new one because we filled up the first one.

This month, while I was in Utah, I was fortunate to be there for the awarding of this honor to two of my grandsons:  Kade (son of Kevin and Angie) and Carter (son of Kyle and Kim.)

This evening's Court of Honor included five young men receiving their Eagle Scout recognition.

It was so special to actually have a real eagle brought in.  The man who has taken care of this eagle for 13 years told us many fascinating facts about an eagle that actually applied to the young men who were becoming Eagles tonight.

When the eagle would start flapping its wings, it was a little intimidating for those young men to stand there.

He, also, received a tribute from his mother.

Here are four of the cousins who have all received the Eagle rank:  Carter Copeland, Bracken Wilde, Kade Copeland, Taylor Smart
It was great to see three of our family members in what they call "The Eagle's Nest."

Proud Grandmother:  Me!
Unfortunately, Grandpa George was still helping out in California and was unable to attend.

This was such a fantastic evening to honor all five young men.  It isn't easy to finish all the requirements for an Eagle--especially when these young men get so busy with school, sports, and other activities, but they are to be commended for finishing such a worthy goal.  I'm so proud of you, Kade and Carter!

Yay for two more eagles to join the Copeland Eagle nest! I'm grateful for your ongoing encouragement for all your grandsons to receive their eagle scouts. We mom's need the extra cheerleader behind us too!! The live eagle at the court just makes it even more perfect!
