Delightful Daily Doings in Dallas - Days 3, 4, and 5

The next few days were filled with fun times with the kids, going to lunch, going to a movie, and attending basketball and soccer practices and games with Cameron and Jaxon.  We even had an adults night out where we went to dinner and afterwards for yummy yogurt!

Cameron is the head coach of Jaxon's basketball team.  This was their first team practice for a new community league, Cameron only knew three of the nine kids--one of whom was Jaxon, of course.

We were so impressed how Cameron discussed and taught the fundamentals of basketball.

The evenings were filled with watching the NCAA basketball tournament.  We were so proud of our BYU boys.  Jimmer really helped to make things fun!

In addition to watching the games, we had fun watching the little ones who were so entertaining.

Another day we went to Jaxon's soccer practice.  The coach wasn't able to be there, so who did he ask to take his place?  Cameron, of course.

After the boys had their practice, there was a little time left, so they played fathers (and grandfathers) and sons.

Isn't this a fun picture?  Jaxon dribbling down the field, Cameron playing defense, and Grandpa George is the goalie!  (Actually, Grandpa George was great!)

Afterwards, we went to get a sandwich at Subway because Cameron had to go straight to the church because he's a counselor in Young Men.

I had to take a picture of this--little Gavin has his canine teeth fully in.  His front teeth are finally starting to come in.  It is so cute!

Another night we went to Jaxon's school presentation.  It was about jungle animals, and Jaxon had a speaking part.  They sang songs and at the end . . .

they all started doing their jungle dance.  It was so fun!

Cameron telling Jaxon how proud he was of his performance,

as well as Grandpa George.

There are parks in nearly every subdivision in Dallas.  We always have so much fun playing there.

Syd rode over her motorized scooter.

Well, Grandpa George took a ride on it.

He had such a great time!  I think I'm going to get him one for Fathers' Day to ride to work.  That will save us a lot of gas!  (I'm surely glad this didn't break the scooter.  Hah!)

Now, the night of the big game--the first of the season.  Cameron had absolutely no idea how they would do having only one practice.

Jaxon is a really good free-throw shooter.  He made two out of three shots he took.

The Assistant Coach with his son, and the Head Coach, Cameron with Jaxon.  They didn't need to worry!  Cameron's team had 22 points to the other team's 0 at the half--that's zero.  They turned off the score board for the second half.  The coach of the opposing team was furious after the game and told Cameron that he had sandbagged the team--whatever that means.  Cameron told him he only knew three kids on the team and the rest were randomly placed by the league.  He asked the other coach how many he knew and he said, "Well, four or five."  I guess Cameron's team was just the best coached.  Right?

Oh, do I remember the days of irate parents, bad refs, unfair playing time, etc., etc.  It brought back so many memories!  But good ones, too!  Getting good exercise, learning good sportsmanship, making wonderful friendships, and most of all, keeping the young people busy and hopefully out of trouble.   I love what sports can do for young and old alike!

George knows how to have fun wherever he goes! So do you. He could get pretty dangerous on his own scooter.

You commented on how you couldn't figure out who Gavin looks like--I think he looks like Lola!! That was at least my first impression. Cute, cute Cameron and Ann's kids, as well as Riley. So fun to see your activities and fun in Texas, along with pictures of Cameron and Ann and their children!
